Here are the goals I set for myself and published following the election last year...
Greater Community Engagement
A motion I put late last year led to extraordinary consultation efforts, even a review of the Community Strategic Plan...but we have a long way to go. This is a big task but we will get there.
Kiama Independence Day
This was held oduring Local Government Week, with an excellent public speaking contest won by Grace Mahon. As chance would have it, I met the CEO of Vietnam Airlines who donated thre tickets to his country.
Observatory on Blow Hole Point
Tight budgets meant that this kind of thing was not posible this financial year...but it's still on the agenda!
Better tourism distribution across the shoulder and off-peak period
I have been woking on this relentlessly for a few years. Hard work, and pesistance paid off with a totally new structure. I call this a big win for the town.
A safer drop off point at Kiama High School
Done! Thanks to the people at the P&C, new principal, Catherine Glover, and local residents...plus our great staff. many meetings, phane calls and emails...but it is now safer...but there is more to be done!
Preserving Green Space
We were undermined by our own at the JRPP with regard to Jamberoo (Golden Valley Road) but this battle is far from over. The saving of Iluka is the next cab off the rank. Watch this green space!
Developing additional housing by council in appropriate areas
Bombo Quarry. First tim I raised it...no seconder, next time (a month later after a bit of phone calling) unanimous support. On going.
• Council structural review
Passsed at the August meeting, following guidelines I set out in 2013.
