Roger Tester has been selected by local Conservative Party members to stand as a candidate in Coldharbour & New Eltham ward in the May 2018 elections, after sitting councillor Mandy Brinkhurst announced she will be stepping down after 12 years in the role.

Roger, 47, is a local small business owner and serves as Chairman of the Conservative Party in the borough. He was selected this week by local members after a closely-fought contest between four candidates.

Roger joins Councillor John Hills and Councillor Matt Hartley as the Conservative Party's team of candidates in the elections in the ward next May.

Mandy said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed what will be 12 years as a local councillor - and it was a difficult decision to stand down after all that time. I'm looking forward to other projects, and to continuing to work hard for residents with John and Matt during my remaining 9 months on the council.

"I am delighted that Roger Tester has been selected to join our team in the ward. I've known Roger for years - he is dedicated and a really hard worker. I hope residents will give him the support they have always shown me."

Roger added: "I am thrilled to be selected to stand as a candidate in Coldharbour, Mottingham and New Eltham - an area I know really well from years of running my own business locally. I'm looking forward to being shown the ropes my John, Matt and Mandy, who have done so much for the ward, and to meeting many more local residents in the months ahead."
